June 29th

We are in the 4th day of what we think will be a pretty long-distance race. We're hoping that the swelling in his brain will start to decrease after today. Once that happens, the doctors will begin to lower the sedation slowly so they can get a better picture of how he's doing neurologically. We are all anxious to get to that point but also want to be patient so we can give his brain and body time to heal. From a physical standpoint, he's doing very well, heart and lungs are looking great. Dad is in great shape and the doctors have told us that his strength and good health prior to the accident are helping in his recovery now.

As a family we have a strong belief in the power of faith, prayer and fasting. We will be fasting for dad tomorrow and invite you to join us.

You all have been in my constant thoughts and prayers, especially Carl that he will be blessed with the best possible outcome from this very difficult experience. Two things that really stand out about Carl is his profound love for Marilyn, their relationship is so special. I also knew that he was always looking for ways to improve and be stronger, to never give up, as was so well represented on his bike. He is a fighter and is blessed with many who truly care about him. - Lisa Murray
